Performance Days expands its scope
Functional fabric fair Performance Days is set to open its doors on October 23 and 24 in the Messe München fairgrounds’ halls A1 and A2 with a host of new sections and events.

The show features a new section dedicated to bodywear in association with the London Contour Experts Group with a specific trend forum, innovation zone and Bodywear Tech-Hub that will be focusing on digitalisation solutions in collaboration with Style 3D ASSYST. New market segments covered by this space in hall A2 include shapewear, underwear, swimwear, bras & leggings and yoga in motion. Some 20 exhibitors are a part of this new initiative.

Headed by Tony Ka Yiu Wang, designer and industry expert Nichole De Carle, and Jos Berry, founder and creative director of Concepts Paris, London Contour Experts operates its own design centre and Hysculpt, a marketing and PR agency.

Wool will also be featured in hall A2 of this edition. Described as a ‘true multitasker’, the natural fibre has been a long-time focus for the show, and a dozen exhibitors, including Woolmark, are now grouped together.

The Performance Days innovation and performance awards for Autumn/Winter 26-27 have been announced. Portuguese mill A. Sampaio & Filhos won the Eco Performance Award for a reference called Colourful Chemistry Featuring Holistic Farming (69222), developed in collaboration with Australian regenerative and organic cotton specialist Good Earth Cotton and dyed using a biotech process by Colorifix. It is available in pink and sand.

The very first Performance Award in the bodywear segment went to Penn Textile Solutions GmbH/Penn Italia SRL for its 13949 reference made from 68% recycled polyamide and 32% Roica elastane from Asahi Kasei. This 290-gsm base layer knit can be customised to a brand’s own design and combines open and three-dimensional structures.

In addition to the Accelerating Circularity workshop, show organisers are adding a second workshop area that will be hosted by Ohana Public Affairs, a Brussels-based public affairs consultancy specialised in EU sustainability policies. Workshops will allow visitors to catch up on the upcoming legislation for companies doing business in the EU includung a talk on the eco-design for sustainable products regulation and future ecodesign requirements for textiles.

This edition’s focus topic, Colorization – Chemistry is Everywhere, will be the subject of expert talks and presentations on innovative sustainable dyeing practices. WSA’s Technical Editor Sophie Bramel will be moderating a panel talk on this theme with representatives from Algaeing, an algae-based colouring solution, Octarine Bio, a biotech dye start-up, and ERCA TCS, a company that develops textile auxiliaries from used cooking oils.

The focus topic for footwear will look into novel sustainable solutions for waterproofing shoes.
