Pertex prepares to go Ambercycling

The technology, which received $21.6 million in series A funding earlier this year, can separate and purify textile waste (including blends) otherwise destined for landfill at the molecular level, ready to be spun into “new” fibres and yarns. Cycora materials regenerated via Ambercycling are “as good as virgin polymer”, the company says, and can remain in its closed-loop system infinitely, thus reducing reliance on petroleum.
“We wanted to utilise cycora materials in advanced, technical products,” said Ambercycle co-founder and chief executive, Shay Sethi, of the collaboration. “The partnership with Pertex allows for circular materials to thrive in the toughest of environments: climbing, hiking, backpacking and so much more.”
Activewear brand Saucony introduced a line of technical running tops made in part with cycora in August.
