Activewear brand Saucony has released a line of performance running tops for both men and women, all made in part with cycora, a regenerated polyester material produced by fellow US company Ambercycle.

Founded in 2015, the latter’s Ambercycling process is able to separate and purify post-consumer textile waste at the molecular level to create regenerated materials. It closed an oversubscribed $21.6 million series A round of financing back in January

The series of tops made by Saucony consist of a men’s singlet, a men’s short-sleeve t-shirt, a women’s crop top and a women’s fitted tank. Each is available in two colours and priced between $40 and $50. The jersey used for the body of each article contains up to 23% cycora. Where a mesh back or sleeves have been incorporated, these components contain 18.75% cycora, according to the brand’s website.

Senior vice-president of global product at Saucony, Brian Moore, commented: “To support the runner, we look for high-performing materials with characteristics that include wicking, drying and breathability. Our collaboration with cycora allows us to simultaneously reduce the materials going into landfills while producing a premium collection of products that are ready to perform.”
