Isbjörn among 'first' to use ocean-bound plastic insulation
Outdoor childrenswear brand Isbjörn of Sweden has teased new padded garments from next year’s autumn-winter collection, each notable for their incorporation of 100% recycled insulation by materials developer PrimaLoft, including 60% ocean-bound plastic content.
The line-up features a fresh take on Isbjörn’s award-winning Penguin snowsuit called the SeaLion; a new spin on the Helicopter winter jacket, named Snowball; and a toddler jumpsuit styled Puffin, available in a new signature polar bear print. Each has been designed with grow cuffs, extendable by up to three centimetres, on the arms and legs.
Isbjörn, which will exclusively sell the three products through its online store, said its use of the insulation technology makes it one of the first brands to do so, a statement backed up by PrimaLoft president and chief executive, Mike Joyce. “Our close relationship with Isbjörn spans many years,” Mr Joyce emphasised. “We share a commitment to making high-performing products while reducing environmental impact wherever possible.”
In related news, the brand's Penguin snowsuit was shortlisted for a Scandinavian Outdoor Award in the kidswear category earlier this year.
