Isbjörn snowsuit lauded for ninth year running

Outdoor childrenswear brand Isbjörn of Sweden’s Penguin snowsuit has been honoured with the third-party Bäst-i-Test (Best in Test) award for the ninth consecutive year.

Children themselves tested the suit during winter, for five months in total. After weathering much play and sledging in sub-zero temperatures, parents evaluated the garments for ease of use and functionality, including reflective attributes and overall design.

Isbjörn said the Penguin received particularly high scores across categories such as durability, quality, thermal performance, water and abrasion resistance, comfort and wearability. The fact that no midlayer is required, owing to use of recycled PrimaLoft insulation, was also praised, as was the style’s washability. Among other feedback received, parents called the suit “a great example of slow fashion".

They added: “Penguin is a simple and stylist snowsuit that works exactly as you want it to. As it has sleeves and legs that can be extended, it never feels bulky or too big and it can last many winter seasons before being handed down to younger siblings."

Brand founder and chief executive, Maria Frykman, commented: “Once again, even after nine years, being independently recognised by our target consumers and Bäst-i-Test is one of the highest accolades our snowsuit can achieve. Here in Sweden, where temperatures can drop as low as minus 30 degrees Celsius, the snowsuit is a way of life, offering the ultimate warmth and protection so children can enjoy outdoor activities in the snow.

"To this day, the Penguin snowsuit still stands the test of time, with only slight tweaks needed to make it even more environmentally friendly as materials and manufacturing processes develop.”
