Further to a two-day summit in the German city of Frankfurt this past March, 25 European fashion organisations have founded a single local ecosystem, the European Fashion Alliance (EFA), under what is to be known as the Frankfurt Agreement.

Countries involved include Spain, Austria, Latvia, Bulgaria, Italy, Denmark, Ireland, Estonia, Germany, France, Belgium, Iceland, Switzerland, Portugal, Norway, Slovakia, Sweden, Finland, the Netherlands and the UK.

Initially spearheaded by Fashion Council Germany, the coalition is also backed by Messe Frankfurt, the organiser of trade shows including Techtextil and Texprocess, both of which are currently underway, along with its more than 500,000-member strong Texpertise network.

The aim is to act as a joint mechanism, rooted in “common understanding”, for advancing European fashion towards a more sustainable, innovative and inclusive creative future. Together, the EFA will collectively form an active and reactive development strategy in the coming months, it said.

Members will next meet during Gran Canaria Swim Week, set to run from October 18 through 21.
