The International Textile Manufacturers’ Federation (ITMF) has presented an award to viscose fibres developer Kelheim Fibres and machinery manufacturer Santoni.

It named the companies as winners of the 2023 ITMF International Cooperation Award, presenting them with the honour at its annual conference in Keqiao, China, at the start of November. They worked together on an intimate apparel project.

Santoni’s machinery enabled a significant reduction in fabric waste and has opened up the possibility of entirely waste-free production, Kelheim said.

For its part, it was able to replace synthetic fibres with wood-based products, including its trilobal Galaxy and hollow Bramante fibre for the project.
