H&M Foundation elects ten ‘bold’ ideas
23/05/2025
Among the companies innovating in materials and processes, the H&M Foundation has elected four companies: a nylon recycling technology developed by CircularFabrics in Germany; a waterless and chemical-free recycling process by Swedish start-up Renasens; Decarbonization Lab, which is working to cut emissions in textile manufacturing in Bangladesh; and UK-based Brilliant Dyes which is working on dyes made by cyanobacteria (a form of algae).
In the production processes category, the Global Change Award has been given to DecoRpet, a Chinese company developing a low-temperature decolourisation process for recycled PET; a novel heat pump system created by UK-based Thermal Cyclones; and metal- and chip-free paper-based RFID tags made by UK-based Pulpatronics.
Upcycling start-up Loom is a part of this year’s award winners for its take on ‘mindful consumption’, and, as a wild card, the foundation has voted for a creative hub working in the Kantamanto market in Ghana, The Revival Circularity Lab, founded by Yayra Agbofah.
These promising start-ups will receive a grant of €200,000 and will take part in a yearlong mentoring programme with the foundation’s partners Accenture and KTH Royal Institute of Technology.
