Based in Cuportino, Refiberd has developed a technology to detect fibre composition and the presence of contaminants in textile waste using a hyperspectral imaging system and artificial intelligence.
“The investment from eBay Ventures will help us close a significant round of fundraising for the business, allowing us to expand our technology to new recycling partners, strengthen our AI capabilities, and move faster toward our mission of enabling true textile-to-textile recycling,” commented Sarika Bajaj, co-founder and CEO of Refiberd.
eBay created the Circular Fashion Fund's in 2022 to support fashion innovators and small businesses. Since its launch, it has contributed funding to 27 companies, distributing a total of $1.2 million, by the end of 2025, it said. The fund has formed partnerships with fashion industry bodies such as the British Fashion Council (BFC), Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), Fashion Council Germany (FCG) and Australia Fashion Council (AFC).
Country finalists in this inaugural edition of the Circular Fashion Fund included SOJO in the UK, a door-to-door repair service for clothing; MOOT (Made Out of Trash) in Germany, founded to help brands develop scalable upcycling solutions; and Shopfront in Australia, an AI-powered fashion resale service. They also received grants starting at $50,000 in their respective local currencies, eBay said.
