Fresh funds for waterless T2T recycling technology

Swedish textile recycling start-up Renasens has raised €10 million in seed funding to grow its CO2-based technology. It has developed a modified supercritical carbon dioxide that removes dyes from blended textiles and separates polyester from cotton, leaving both components intact.

A recipient of a Global Change Award in 2025, Renasens was founded in 2022 by Dr Jade Bouledjouidja. She intends to use the funds to install a pilot facility in Borås, Sweden. The company said it had already supplied recycled fibres to mills in Italy and Portugal.

The funding round was led by Extantia, a Berlin-based VC firm that invests in climate tech solutions and has backed biotech textile companies in the likes of Modern Synthesis and Epoch Biodesign, both based in the UK. Swedish VC firm Course Corrected and existing investors also contributed.
