Nylon recycling start-up raises $30 million
Syntetica, based in Paris, has attracted $30 million in a Series A funding round, led by French State innovation accelerator Bpifrance Green Venture, with strategic backing from industry companies lululemon and MAS Holdings.
“This raise funds the roll-out of a Commercial Demo facility, built at the Michelin Innovation Park - Cataroux that will recycle millions of garments a year into industrial volumes of virgin-quality nylon,” said Marco Bertone, co-founder and CEO, in a social media post.
The company claims to depolymerise both nylon 6 and 6.6 at the same time in a low-temperature chemical process developed by Louis Monsigny, co-founder, a specialist of molecular catalysis and plastic depolymerisation.
