REC produces its first recycled nylon from textiles

16/06/2026

French company REC has produced its first recycled polyamide (rPA) pellets derived from end-of-life tights, stockings and textile waste.

Using mostly waste generated by fast fashion, REC aims to provide European textile manufacturers, but also automobile constructors and other polyamide-consuming industries, with recycled polyamide.

Founded in 2019 in Auxerre as Écollant and rebranded as REC in late 2025, the French deeptech company, now based in Joigny, has developed a closed-loop physico-chemical recycling process capable of treating blended polyamide-elastane yarns.

The company is moving from experimental production to a capacity of several dozen kilograms of recycled pellets per month, paving the way for the launch of its future manufacturing facility.

Polyamide, better known as nylon, is the world’s second most widely used synthetic fibre, with nearly 8.7 million tonnes produced globally in 2024, according to the Textile Exchange.
