Nylon Materials Collective offers pooled buying for T2T nylon

Australian biotech company Samsara Eco and the European Outdoor Group (EOG) are to make recycled nylon accessible to more brands through collective buying.

Open to EOG members, brands in the Nylon Materials Collective will also have the option to collaborate with supply chain partners, helping to reduce logistical complexities and speed up adoption.

Samsara Eco has developed plastic-eating enzymes that can break nylon and polyester fibres in apparel back down into monomer form to enable textile-to-textile recycling. It has recently opened an industrial scale facility near Canberra.

Sarah Cook, chief commercial officer of Samsara Eco, said: “The Nylon Materials Collective will make it easier for outdoor brands of any size, who might have smaller materials requirements or who typically buy at a fabric level to access and seamlessly integrate virgin-identical recycled materials into their future product lines.”

The Collective will formally launch ahead of EOG’s participation at ISPO Munich 2025, where Samsara Eco will showcase its recycled nylon material samples.

This summer, Canadian activewear brand Lululemon signed a 10-year offtake agreement with Samsara.
