Lululemon to focus on product amid management shake-up

Canadian athleisure brand Lululemon Athletica has named Maggie Gauger as president and chief product officer, and Joseph Godsey as chief operating officer, both of which are newly created roles.

Gauger joins from Athleta, where she most recently served as CEO; Godsey joins from Walmart Canada, where he was chief growth officer.

Searches are under way for a chief brand officer, chief communications officer and chief technology officer.

Nikki Neuburger, chief brand and product activation officer, and Ted Dagnese, chief supply chain officer, will leave the company.

Former Nike brand president Heidi O’Neill, Lululemon’s new CEO, said: “We are establishing a deeply experienced leadership team that will work in a more coordinated manner, aligned around the strategy and execution that delivers the most impact for our guests, our communities, and our business. That starts with putting product, design, and innovation at the centre of how we operate, with the focus and accountability to create a stronger pipeline of differentiated product.”

The company has been in a public battle with its founder and former CEO, Chip Wilson, for many years.
