Change at the helm of algae fibre company

09/06/2025
Algae fibre developer Keel Labs has announced the departure of Tessa Callaghan, co-founder and CEO, and has appointed Aleks Gosiewski, also a co-founder, as the company’s new head executive.

In a post on social media, Ms Callaghan noted that “from day one, my goal was to bring Keel Labs from concept to reality”. Now, she said, Keel Labs is moving on to a new chapter, “that’s less about breakthrough innovation and more about commercial execution, logistics, and industry-standard operations”.

Originally known as Algiknit, the company was founded in 2017 by a group of students from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. It is now based in South Carolina. Its alginate and cellulosic fibre Kelsun has been featured by a few brands, including Kelly Slater’s Outerknown.
