The Textile Exchange announced its award winners for 2024 at its latest conference held in Pasadena, California.

The Ryan Young Climate Leader award, created in honour of the organisation’s late COO and initiator of the Climate+ initiative, was given to Ian and Di Haggerty of Natural Intelligence Farming, a programme that respects and supports natural systems, developed by the Australian farmers.

The standards organisation introduced four new categories this year under the umbrella name of Project of the Year. The climate award went to Italian wool recycling specialist Manteco for its MWool and ReviWool references. Bergman Rivera, of The White Cotton Project, won the Project of the Year prize for nature. “This is a recognition of the silent work that farmers have been doing for years, preserving ancient traditions, the environment and their biodiversity. We accept this award on their behalf,” commented Bergman Rivera CEO Orlando Rivera.

The innovation prize was given to Keel Labs, for its 100% bio-based algae-derived fibre, Kelsun. Materra Regenerative Cotton won the Collaboration in Action award.
