Indera Mills no longer family-owned
Indera Mills, a specialist producer of thermal layers, has been acquired by fellow US vertical manufacturer Intradeco Holdings, which supplies casual clothing and thermal underwear to retail partners both at home and abroad, specifically Canada and Mexico.

The exact terms of the deal were not disclosed, although it was revealed that former Indera owner John Willingham will remain in place as president to help “build a thermal underwear business second to none in the world”, he said.

Prior to its purchase by Intradeco, the North Carolina firm had been in family hands since 1914. It will now be run as a division of Intradeco Apparel.

“This acquisition will enable us to create new synergies and value by joining Indera’s long history and expertise with Intradeco’s capabilities and strength,” commented chief operating officer at the latter company, Luis Marquina.

Indera boasts its own production facilities in the US and Mexico and is particularly well-known for its Coldpruf line of performance baselayers and two-layer fabrics, in addition to thermals sold under its namesake brand. The business has more than 5,000 retail customers in the US alone, it says.
