Cotton knitwear breakthrough from Lycra and HeiQ
Fibre developer The Lycra Company has launched a new technology called naturalFX, describing it as a proprietary textile finishing process for 100% cotton-knit garments. It is designed for mass market applications.
It has developed the technology with materials innovation specialist HeiQ.
The partners have said naturalFX technology will provide cotton knitwear with higher levels of durable comfort stretch, fit and soft hand-feel compared to conventional finishes, even after repeated washing and wear. It will also help garments retain their shape, extending their lifespan.
Lycra’s chief commercial officer, Nicolas Banyols, described the development as a “breakthrough innovation” and said the technology would improve the performance of everyday cotton knitwear, but would also be easy for mills to implement. “It requires no investment in new equipment,” he said.
