New sock technology helps harness heat, Lycra says
A new fibre technology for socks from US-based developer The Lycra Company, Thermolite Everyday Warmth, locks the wearer’s own body heat inside hollow polyester fibres to store up warmth and deliver lightweight comfort, thereby eliminating the need for bulkier materials, the firm says.
“The launch of Thermolite Everyday Warmth technology for socks enables brands to differentiate their products while providing consumers in colder environments the warmth they require,” commented strategic marketing director for legwear, Sybille Bald.
Lycra unveiled its latest Thermolite insulation, this time made from 100% pre-consumer textile waste as part of the EcoMade range, at functional fabrics show Performance Days in Munich last month. Back in October, the business released its first-ever sustainability report.
