Lycra unveils 100% textile waste insulation tech

02/11/2022
Fibre manufacturer The Lycra Company is to debut a new form of its Thermolite EcoMade technology, made from 100% pre-consumer textile waste, at functional fabrics show Performance Days in Munich over November 3-4.

The producer will showcase its latest innovation, Thermolite EcoMade for either batt or blown-in insulation, at booth G02, where it will also present the technology to visitors for the first time at 11am on November 3.

Certified to Global Recycled Standard, the “high-performance” insulation is engineered from cutting room fabric straps using a recycling method that is also compatible with post-consumer garments. It is made from “functional, hollow fibres that last”, according to the company’s vice-president of brands and retail, Arnaud Ruffin.

Sustainability director Jean Hegedus commented that visitors to the booth will be encouraged to download Lycra's Planet Agenda Update, its first-ever public sustainability report, released only last month
