Singapore deal allows Lycra to advance ‘digital transformation’

The Lycra Company has entered into a new partnership with Singapore-based 3D design technology provider Browzwear.

Under the agreement, garment designers using Browzwear’s VStitcher and Lotta platforms will be able to incorporate fabrics containing Lycra or Coolmax fibres quickly and easily.

Work that the Lycra company has already carried out on what it has called “a multifaceted digital transformation” means users of Browzwear’s software will be able to incorporate true-to-life visualisation of garments made using Lycra fibres, giving a more accurate representation in 3D designs of aspects such as fit and ease-of-movement. This will help designers of activewear, denim, swimwear and intimate apparel, Lycra said.

The fibre company has developed a brand materials library, showing in digital form a series of materials made with its products. Browzwear offers users access to this library and also to 15 mills around the world from which designers can source the materials.

All of the materials in the library have been tested and certified by Lycra to make sure they contain authentic fibres. The company said its work with Browzwear would be ongoing and that it would add new resources to the materials library as these become available.

Chief executive, Julien Born, said Lycra was constantly on the lookout for “new ways to create value for our mill customers, brands and retail partners”.
