Giotex co-founder steps up at BioFluff

16/12/2022
BioFluff, a California-based developer of fur-like material made from 100% plant-based and biodegradable fibres, has welcomed Giotex co-founder Steven Usdan as its chief operating officer.

Mr Usdan has been a strategic advisor to the start-up since July 2021 and will continue to work from New York.

On top of his ongoing management responsibilities at recycled cotton manufacturer Giotex, Mr Usdan has been advising US textile recycler Circ on its commercial activities since 2018 and worked alongside sustainable textile non-profit Accelerating Circularity since its founding, among other projects related to textiles and eco-investing.

BioFluff closed a $500,000 pre-seeding round in November and is part of this year’s LVMH La Maison des Startups cohort, designed to foster dialogue between early-stage innovators and the group’s network of luxury houses.

In announcing its latest appointment, the start-up highlighted Mr Usdan’s “deep industry network” and key role in helping to develop a yet unrevealed “2.0” version of its alternative material “at supersonic speed”.
