United Nations appearance for Lycra’s Jean Hegedus

Fibre developer The Lycra Company was a supporting partner of the United Nations Conscious Fashion and Lifestyle Network annual meeting on June 1.

At the meeting at the United Nations headquarters in New York, the company’s sustainability director, Jean Hegedus, was a panellist in a discussion on the theme of ‘Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure: Designing a Better Future’.

This discussion had as its focus sustainable development goal (SDG) number nine: to build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialisation, and foster innovation.

Points Ms Hegedus raised on the day included Lycra’s agreement with biobased 1,4-Butanediol alternative maker Qore for use of its Qira product, which has 70% renewable content, in Lycra products.

She said the company was committed to delivering “solutions that will help our customers reduce their footprint and support their sustainability goals”.
