Lycra and Texhong to boost renewable content-containing elastane

The Lycra Company has announced a strategic partnership with Texhong International Group for its elastane fibre made with around 30% renewable content, with the BDO derived from industrial corn in Iowa.

Texhong, one of the world’s largest suppliers of core-spun cotton textiles, will exclusively partner with Lycra to bring the content to China’s core-spun yarn sector, with the aim of accelerating its adoption across the apparel industry.

Jason Wang, vice president of Asia at Lycra, said: “Renewable Lycra fibre already boasts a mature foundation for commercial adoption. The partnership with Texhong will further expand its industrial scale.”

Texhong has used Lycra brand fibres for nearly two decades and has collaborated on technological advancements including dualFX fabric technology.
