Wool footwear has come a long way
The Woolmark Company has said products such as the Supernatural Runner from Circle show that wool footwear “has come a long way”.
According to the body that works to promote Australian merino wool around the world, sneakers with knitted wool uppers and other forms of innovative wool footwear are “on the rise”.
It presented Circle’s SuperNatural Runner as a good example, describing it as a light, durable and comfortable shoe that features a blend of merino wool and Tencel in the knitted upper and a 100% merino wool lining.
French brand Circle has said the upper provides support and flexibility, with the wool content aiding natural thermo-regulation. It used ProWeave technology from Texon (now part of Coats Footwear) to construct the knitted upper.
