Coats expands Soft-Flowing orthotics, medical insole line

Coats Footwear has added seven new, seamlessly fused materials for medical and orthopaedic insole applications to its Soft-Flowing insole product line-up.

Made from soft, flowing thermoplastic, a heat-activated adhesive inside the polymer mass produces a strong bonding effect.

Each material’s edges become slightly fluid during thermoforming for a smooth finish and outflow that is both “highly resistant to breakage” and supports “excellent shape retention properties”, the company said.

Several hues, thickness and firmness options are available, in a nod to target customers’ varying requirements, and all seven can be processed quickly, without skiving or grinding. They include Proform, Ultrafit, Rx 31.8/Rx 32.8, Orthofirm, Rx 41.2, Rx 44.2 and Orthoflex.

“With the acquisitions of Texon and Rhenoflex in 2022, Coats has become a global leader in the footwear industry for pioneering reinforcement solutions that can improve the production, integration, and performance of structural components into all kinds of shoe and medical applications,” director of transformation and procurement, Robert Grueneberg, commented.
