China: minister calls for new industrialisation
Textile industry representatives attended a meeting with China’s minister of industry and information technology, Jin Zhuanglong, on July 6. In total, representatives of 19 manufacturing sectors took part.
At the meeting, the minister laid out plans for “a new industrialisation” in China. He said the ministry would work with companies to put the focus of manufacturing in China on high-end, intelligent and green development.
Mr Jin, who took office a year ago, said he wanted to speed up the transformation from ‘Made in China’ to ‘Created in China’, from speed to quality, and from Chinese products to Chinese brands.
He talked of bringing in policies that will support this transition and said the ministry would help companies resolve practical challenges along the way.
