China growth boosts Descente results

Sports group Descente has reported revenues equivalent to $185 million for the first quarter of its current business year, the months from April to June 2023. This is an increase of 2.8% year on year.

Just over 40% of total revenues were from sales in its home market, Japan, but revenues there were down by 8.4% year on year. Revenues from South Korea contributed more than 45% of the total, but were down by 3.4%. The Chinese market accounted for 11.8% of the total and sales in China were up by more than 200% compared to the same quarter a year earlier.

The figures reflect the performance of all of the group’s brands: Descente, Umbro, Le Coq Sportif, Munsingwear and Arena.
