After Nike, Tiger Woods creates his own brand
Golfer Tiger Woods has launched his own clothing brand, Sun Day Red, in partnership with TaylorMade.
He signed a sponsorship deal with Nike immediately on turning professional in 1996. This relationship lasted until the start of 2024, when he announced his departure from Nike after 27 years.
Nike provided Tiger Woods with one of the wealthiest endorsements any athlete has ever had. It even named one of the buildings at its Beaverton campus in Oregon after the golfer.
On announcing Sun Day Red on February 13, Tiger Woods said the time was right for him to move on. He said he had always liked wearing red to compete and had built this into the identity of the new brand.
The logo for Sun Day Red is a tiger, but the graphic is made up of 15 stripes to represent the 15 major tournaments he has won in the course of his career to date.
TaylorMade said it was honoured to work with Tiger Woods to create the brand and said he was “the greatest athlete in the history of our sport”.
