Julien Born to head HeiQ AeoniQ subsidiary
Materials innovation specialist HeiQ has appointed Julien Born as chief executive of the holding company it has set up for AeoniQ, the cellulosic yarn derived from renewable raw materials that it brought to market in 2021.
HeiQ AeoniQ Holding is an independent subsidiary that the Swiss group has set up to attract investors and value-chain partners as it embarks on what it has called “an ambitious multi-year scale-up of the world’s first climate-positive cellulosic filament fibre”.
As a former chief executive of The Lycra Company, Julien Born will bring extensive textile industry experience to the new role.
In 2025, commercial production of AeoniQ will begin at a 20,000 square-metre facility in Portugal. This is part of an €80 million investment, HeiQ has said.
