Outdoor brand turns its back on social media platforms

Outdoor brand Vaude has announced that it will stop presenting paid-for content on X and on other social media platforms.

It announced on March 26 that it was closing its account on X, formerly Twitter, with immediate effect and would cease all paid advertising endeavours across all social networks in the following days.

Vaude said it had become “deeply troubled by the prevailing trends in social media channels” and had decided not to contribute financially to any of them any more through advertising revenues.

It said its commitment was to position the brand “within environments that uphold our values of integrity and constructive engagement”.
