High-tech recycled cotton for Team USA
As it has for the nine past Olympiads, Team USA will be wearing kits designed by Ralph Lauren for the upcoming Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games. The presence of denim in the official uniforms drew surprise, confirming a casualisation of formal wear.

The polo shirts the athletes will be wearing for the closing ceremony on August 11, are made using what the brand says is a novel flat-knitting technology that minimises waste. As part of its commitment to reducing its reliance on virgin raw materials, the polo shirts of the villagewear collection are crafted from 100% recycled cotton enhanced by a technology developed by US-based NFW (in which the Ralph Lauren Corporation has invested). The Clarus finish reinforces shorter length fibres and makes it possible to increase recycled content from post-consumer textile waste without sacrificing performance.
