A Pakistan-based farming project supported by denim and jeans maker Artistic Fabric Mills is celebrating achieving Regenagri status.

The project was launched last year in the Barkhan region of Baluchistan, covering 501 farmers across 7639 acres of land.

Saba Iqbal, director of Artistic Fabric Mills, said the project will contribute to global efforts to mitigate climate change by reducing emissions and sequestering carbon, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and contributing to climate resilience. “We believe this initiative will have a positive impact on the entire cotton value chain,” she added. “AFM remains dedicated to scaling up regenerative cotton farming, working closely with all stakeholders to promote sustainable agriculture practices and fostering positive change in the denim industry.’’

Regenagri is an international regenerative agriculture programme for securing the health of the land and the wealth of those who live on it. It supports farms and organisations transitioning to holistic farming, increasing soil health, encouraging biodiversity, reducing green house gas emissions and sequestering CO2. Regenagri also provides farmers with routes to additional funds through carbon credit markets and environmental subsidies.
