Fresh funds for upcycling brand
17/10/2024
Founded in 2020 by Maxime Labat, a windsurfer, Benoit Gourlet, a product developer at Decathlon, and Nathan Douillard, a cyclist and long-distance runner, have built up a strong following for their products made from used kitesurf canopies or lifeboats. La Virgule also organises upcycling workshops for brands in the likes of The North Face and Patagonia. It has developed a series of co-branded ranges for Sea Shepherd and ZAG, a ski touring brand.
La Virgule has been incubated by the Annecy-based Outdoor Sport Valley organisation That was instrumental in connecting the start-up with potential business angels, it said.
“The companies that we work with are looking for smart and low impact solutions for the waste they generate, waste that is increasingly costly for them,” commented Benoit Gourlet, technical manager for La Virgule.
