Dallas-based United-Southern Waste Material Company (USW), which has been sorting and repurposing used clothing since 1914, has been acquired by Reclaimed Cleaning Textiles. Also based in Dallas, it was founded in 1994 and specialises in industrial wipes. Details of the transaction were not disclosed.

USW, up till now co-owned by third-generation family member Mindi Levine Kahn, is said to have installed more than 120 collecting bins and has an 88,000 square foot facility.

“Our stated vision is to divert 100 million pounds of textiles from landfills on an annual basis,” commented Craig McAndrews, president and CEO of Reclaimed Cleaning Textiles. “USW’s operation will help us expand our capacity and drive essential long-term growth. Mindi and her family have been pioneers in the second-hand clothing industry, and we are excited to come together to create a best-in-class regional operation.”
