Ternua strides towards circular collections
Seventy percent of Basque-based Ternua’s spring-summer 2026 collection is made from monomaterials, as it continues its drive to make outdoor clothing more sustainable and recyclable.
One of its primary goals is to produce entirely circular collections in a bid to address the problem of textiles waste.
The garments in the new collection are made with recycled or natural biodegradable materials, organic cotton or regenerative cotton, or Bluesign or Oeke-tex certified textiles. In addition, the collection is PFC free, the wool used is responsible, and 100% of the polyester is recycled.
By product lines, 88% of Adrenalite, which is the line for high-aerobic-intensity mountain sports, is mono-material. New products include the Xenon Jkt, which is a 100% recycled polyester jacket made of Dryshell, with a Polygiene antibacterial treatment. Similarly, the Cyclone Pro Jkt is a monomaterial compactible raincoat.
In the Trekking line, 44% of the products are now circular. The Topal Hybrid Jacket, an ultra lightweight windbreaker, and the Adark shorts and pant are made with Shellstretch while the Sunnik LS Tee has UPF 50+ sun protection.
Ternua has also worked with Good Earth Cotton, using its cotton grown using regenerative agricultural practices and traceable with FibreTrace.
In the upcoming issue of Sportstextiles, we speak to Ternua’s innovation director, Eduardo Uribesalgo, who tells us more about the benefits and complexities of designing with monomaterials.
