Chief AI officer appointment at Lululemon

Yoga and gym apparel brand Lululemon has created a new chief artificial intelligence (AI) officer, appointing Ranju Das to the job, starting on September 2. Mr Das will take responsibility for leading the Vancouver-based company’s technology and AI strategy. 

Chief executive, Calvin McDonald, said: “We see an exciting opportunity to further leverage AI and technology to advance our product innovation process, improve our agility and speed to market.”

Mr Das has extensive experience of driving “AI-first innovation” in healthcare, financial services and consumer technology. He was the chief executive and founder of Swan AI Studios, where he led the development of AI platforms and applications across industries.

Lululemon’s current chief information officer, Julie Averill, will leave the company in September to pursue other opportunities.
