Better Cotton introduces consumer-facing label
10/10/2025
“In a time of increasing scrutiny around sustainability claims, global trade pressures, and shifting environmental, social, and governance (ESG) priorities, transparency and accountability are more critical than ever,” commented Nick Weatherill, Better Cotton Initiative CEO.
Alongside the launch of the new label, the organisation has also changed its name to Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) and refreshed its logo. The new name makes a clearer distinction between the organisation and its commodity, both formerly known as ‘Better Cotton’. Cotton sourced through the Better Cotton Initiative is now called BCI Cotton.
The organisation also released its impact report for 20245/2025, updating data on its operations. Some 1.4 million licensed farmers produced 5.6 million tonnes of BCI Cotton across 15 countries, while more than 1.63 million cotton farmers received training in the period.
BCI Cotton said it now accounts for 23% of global production, up from 22% in the previous annual review.
