Recycling specialist is new strategic investor for BlockTexx
Austrian plastics recycling solutions specialist Erema Group has announced a strategic investment in clean technology company BlockTexx.
Based in Queensland, Australia, BlockTexx has developed a process that separates polyester and cellulose from blended textiles. Erema Group said it was making the investment to emphasise its commitment to returning polyester to the apparel production cycle to scaling up textile-to-textile recycling.
Chief executive of Erema Group, Manfred Hackl, said he viewed BlockTexx as a key partner because its technology paves the way for used textiles to re-enter the production cycle.
BlockTexx already operates one plant in Australia with a processing capacity of 10,000 tonnes per year. It plans to build a second plant with a capacity of 50,000 tonnes per year.
