RadiciGroup expands sustainability reporting

Italian synthetic fibre producer Radici has released its sustainability report for 2024, the 21st overview of the measures the Bergamo-based company is taking to reduce its impacts. Two years ago, it launched a new set of goals for 2030, under the heading ‘From Earth to Earth’. The group said that several key goals had been achieved in 2024. These include an 81% reduction in its direct emissions (or Scope 1), compared to a 2011 baseline. Its electricity needs are now met by renewable sources for 63.5% of its consumption, with a growing share self-produced, the group said. As part of its efforts to reduce waste, it now recovers nearly all of its packaging.

This edition of the group’s sustainability report has added Scope 3 emissions to align with GHG Protocol guidelines. This covers emissions linked to the group’s suppliers.

In social matters, the fibre producer said it had stepped up worker health and safety measures with new training and professional development initiatives tailored to the different cultural contexts in which it operates.

With regards to greener products, Radici cites its Renycle recycled nylon and Bionside, a biobased family of polyamides that includes PA 610, derived from castor oil, and what are described as new experimental materials such as PA 56, PA 510 and PA 1012. These reduce the group’s dependence on fossil fuels and global warming potential, and by nearly 70% for the PA 610 compared to standard petrochemical polyamide 66.
