Lotus and aloe add performance for Brunello

Italian textiles and linings-maker Brunello presented its spring-summer 2027 collection at Milano Unica, reflecting the fair’s central trend theme, ‘cosmetic’.

The collection features linings in Cupro Bemberg – a cellulosic fibre with a naturally silky hand – blended with viscose derived from aloe and lotus plants.

Lotus fibre is extracted from proteins contained in the leaves and seeds. The company claims it is rich in amino acids and can even help to support the immune system.

Aloe vera fibre, extracted from the plant’s leaves, has antibacterial and anti-odour properties that help the garment stay fresh.

Other novel fibres and blends include Naia from Eastman, kapok, nettle, hemp, Crabyon and bamboo.

Brunello's production, made on its 200 looms in its factory in the town of Brunello in Varese, includes a wide range of fabrics suitable for men's outerwear to women's dresses, from shirts to accessories. The company supports the town's heritage, sponsoring the Varese Rowing Club, local football schools, concerts and school plays, and the Church of Santa Maria Annunciata in Brunello, built in the 14th century.
