IND Hemp establishes Vietnam-based supply chain

Montana based hemp specialist IND Hemp has announced a partnership with two Vietnamese companies, import and logistics company Summit International Trading, and textile mill Thien Phuoc Ramie Group, to build up its business in the South Asian country. Vietnam now allows the import of hemp fibre, said IND Hemp, whereas previously hemp-based imports were restricted to yarns and textiles.

The three partners have signed a memorandum of understanding in which IND Hemp will supply decorticated hemp fibre that it grows and processes in Montana and Thien Phuoc will handle the degumming, spinning and textile production. First samples of these new products were shown this week at the Functional Fabric Fair in Portland.

Ind Hemp said that its first contacts with Vietnamese producers took place at the Vietnam Textile tradeshow VIATT.

“Summit International has deep experience importing from and exporting to the US from Vietnam and managing international textile supply chains. Ms Thuy of Thien Phuoc has built a strong natural fibre processing platform with ramie. Together, they have the capability to integrate hemp into an existing, working textile supply chain system,” commented Morgan Tweet, IND Hemp CEO.

A certified B-Corp, IND Hemp was founded in 2015 and markets all hemp-derived products, including seeds, animal care and gardening/landscaping products, and fibre.
