Footwear brand Allbirds has introduced a collection made with Innovera, a material made from plant-based proteins, biopolymers and recycled Nylon 6 from end-of-life tires.

The material by US biotechnology company Modern Meadow is finished in conventional tanneries using the same treatment and dyeing processes as leather.

It has been used in automotive interiors, wallets and handbags but this is the first time it has been made into shoes.
