The technical editor of Sportstextiles, Sophie Bramel, was the moderator at an exciting talk at Performance Days in Munich on March 19.
Textile-to-textile recycling was the main topic at a panel discussion involving three speakers, each of whom is in the thick of the action.
With ‘Circular Textiles: What is needed to unlock post-consumer feedstock?’ as the full heading, one of the speakers who took part was Mette Kirk Jensen, an innovation and sustainability specialist at Danish developed of automated textile sorting systems NewRetex.
Also taking part was Stefan Edkvist, head of business development at Reo Eco, a China-based specialist in converting polyester waste into high-quality rPET materials, and Halit Gümüser, managing director of Turkish industrial group Kipas Holding, who recently created a new textile-to-textile division, FibR-e.
Sophie Bramel said she was pleased to moderate a discussion among speakers who have “true on-the-ground experience” of developing ideas and systems for handling difficult issues such as sorting and pre-processing.
