Weichert to lend wisdom to Performance Days panel
At the upcoming Performance Days, show CEO Marco Weichert will, for the first time, join an expert panel, while Sportstextiles’ technical editor, Sophie Bramel, will moderate a separate talk.
On October 13 and 14 in Munich, an extensive education
programme across the Expert Talks, the new Breakout Stage and the
Sustainability Exchange will bring experts, innovators and the industry
together to share knowledge and discuss challenges.
This season’s focus topic, 'Bio-based materials – from fibre to fabric', plays a central role, with discussions exploring biosynthetic materials
across the value chain, the road towards fossil-free performance and the
opportunities and challenges surrounding the transition from fossil to plant-based
alternatives.
On October 14, Sophie
Bramel will chair a panel called ‘From fossil to vegetal: the promises and challenges of biosynthetics’. Biosynthetics occupy a sweet spot between natural
and petrochemical fibres, offering brands a solution derived from renewable
resources that have a lighter footprint. She will be joined by Claire Mattelet;
head of sustainability for fibres segment at Indorama Ventures; Jim Hees, business
manager of Noosa; and Sina Theis, a system manager at ISCC System.
Other highlights will include a look at waterproof
performance beyond PFAS, the growing potential of cellulosic materials,
repairability at scale and the future of European fine wool.
