Regatta sets up circular ecosystem for uniforms

Regatta Professional, the workwear label of British outdoor group Regatta, is introducing a new uniform collection that is designed to be recycled. Its development is the result of a collaboration between the workwear brand, the Circular Textiles Foundation (CTF) and Project Re:claim. CTF promotes circular design principles through training and certification, the second operates the country’s first thermomechanical recycling facility for polyester, on a Salvation Army (SATCoL) site.

The Recycle.me range includes a thermal jacket, bodywarmer, softshell, fleece and polo in two colourways. All products are monomaterial, made from 100% polyester fabric and trims. They carry CTF’s ‘Infinitee’ certification mark, which brings third party validation that each garment can be recycled.

As part of the CTF certification, and to truly close the loop, Regatta Professional is launching a take back scheme for the new range. When (and if) returned, the items will be sent to Project Re:claim, and will be turned into recycled polyester chips.

“Recycle.me marks an important milestone for us, but it is only the beginning. We are excited about building a long-term partnership with everyone involved to drive meaningful progress across the UK textiles industry,” commented Anthony Haber, managing director of the division. He said that Regatta Professional had been working with since CTF last year to develop the range.
