Supershoe helps athletes make history at London Marathon
Two athletes, Sabastian Kimaru Sawe from Kenya and Yomif Kejelcha from Ethiopia, have broken the time of two hours for a marathon.
At the London Marathon on April 26, Sabastian Kimaru Sawe was the winning athlete with a time of 1:59.30. Yomif Kejelcha came second with a time of 1:59.41.
Another Ethiopian athlete, Tigst Assefa Tessema, also broke history at the London Marathon by setting a new women’s record time of 2:15.41.
All three athletes wore adidas Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3 shoes. The sports company describes the product as the lightest Adizero shoe ever made and said its innovation team had worked closely with the athletes to deliver “an unmatched range of innovative running products to support this moment of history”. They also wore adidas clothing, including Techfit+ Endurance shorts, Climacool+ singlets and a Techfit+ Endurance suit.
General manager for running at adidas, Patrick Nava, said: “This is a testament to the years of hard work and dedication these athletes have made, alongside our innovation team, who have built a supershoe in the Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3, one that is breaking new ground.”
