Adidas adds spring to volleyballers’ step
German sportswear Adidas spent 18 months researching a shoe that could help athletes jump higher and land more softly, aimed at sports such volleyball and handball.
Crazyflight 7 has been redesigned with improved cushioning and enhanced energy return, and uses the Lightstrike Pro midsole with foam adapted from adidas’ record-breaking running shoe range.
A breathable mesh upper with a window in the midfoot area lets cold air in and hot air out while the minimalistic construction delivers a lightweight feel.
Matt Fielding, senior director for specialist sports at Adidas, said: "Athletes wanted a shoe that would help them jump higher and land more softly while also offering comfort, support, and ventilation for intense indoor play. Equally vital was a sleek aesthetic that ensured they looked good on and off court.”
Crazyflight 7 will be worn by volleyball players Kamil Semeniuk, Bathelemy Chinenyeze, Magdalena Stysiak, Harper Murray, Lexi Rodriguez, and handball players such as Thibaut Briet, Elohim Prandi, Lena Grandveau and Nora Monk.
