Another senior appointment at Puma
Sports group Puma has announced the appointment of Laurent Fricker as its new vice-president of its Sportstyle business unit. He will take up the position on June 1.
In taking up this new role, Mr Fricker will cross the well worn path between Puma and rival group adidas, where he has worked for more than two decades. He has worked as the vice-president of adidas Originals and has also been in senior posts focusing on basketball and partnerships.
Last year, Puma named Sportstyle as one of four categories it will focus on in what it has called a transition period. The other categories are football, running and training.
In Sportstyle specifically, Puma’s aim is to create products that “celebrate the legacy of sport and connect to the passion of sport culture”. In other words, in this category it will place sports products that people will wear in leisure and lifestyle contexts rather than to take part in any athletic activity.
