Usha ushers in new brand name Puneh

With nearly three decades of experience in mechanically recycled yarns, Usha Yarns is moving on to a new stage of its development thanks to an injection of new funding and with the launch of a new brand name for its recycled yarns, Puneh.

The new funds, provided by the Fullerton Carbon Fund, will be used to expand recycled yarn capacity with the acquisition of new ring spinning machinery. This will enable the company to develop new products for fashion, including finer qualities. A new plant to house the ring spinning operations is in the works and will be in operation within the next 12 months. The company currently operates five facilities.

Usha Yarns takes in post-consumer waste that it blends with BCI or organic cotton (with 30% recycled content). The yarns can be either white, and ready to dye, or mélange, for a more rustic recycled aesthetic (pictured).

The company has formed new partnerships recently, with Birla’s Reviva manmade cellulosic which includes cotton pulp from textile waste, and with Circulose.
